Henry VIII

I watched a Tv series about Henry VIII's life. It was "Tudors" .
While learning a language, it is important to learn its culture. He was the King of England in 21 April 1509.Besides his six marriages, Henry VIII is known for his role in the separation of the Church of England from the Roman Catholic Church. He was an author and a composer. This video with the song seems that we can remember his life in terms of his wives :)

  1. Apparently, Henry VIII also was responsible for making the game of 'real' tennis popular, which eventually evolved into the modern game we know now. Interesting variation on the famous ABBA song 'Money, money, money'. Is this the real ABBA singing it? Very cleverly done.

You are right about the need to know more about the culture to understand the language. The separation of the Church of England from the Roman Catholic church certainly was an important event in British history. And, don't forget that one of Henry VIII's daughters, Elizabeth, came to the throne during the time of Shakespeare, whose influence on the English language is still with us today.

  2. I haven't known he attributed to the tennis. It is interesting. The artist of the song for this video is seen as ABBA.
I like Elizabeth, because in her times, the art and the literature improved a lot. You are right, hocam :)
